Jenny's journey

Hi Sunmaiden,

Yes I agree that the acne may be something that I will have to put up with for a time. If that's the worst of the detox, and it may not be, then that's not too bad really. It's great that your skin is clearing up now.

It's interesting how we all have access to different fruits. This year is really the first year I've noticed & bought fresh dates only having used dried ones in baking etc. prior. I'm surprised at myself for not wanting them even though I have them available in my house!

Just looked at some pics of strawberry barrels. What a lovely idea, so quaint.

Best wishes,

Hi Anne,

I'm glad you're enjoying my journal :)

I've looked at Malaysian Durian label and it says Musang King - your favourite. I'm glad I read the label now because it says "natural farming methods" which makes me think it might be pesticide free. This may be it had why higher price tag. I haven't tried them yet and they remain in freezer for time being as I have other fruit that needs eating first. I'll let you know when I try. My boys seem to have no interest in Durian since tasting them!

It's true I have been having mono meals, probably around half my meals. Citrus is one meal of the day and apples have been a staple at lunch but they're coming to end of season. I have loved most of the apples I've bought :) so maybe what I've needed plus they're such a good fruit to transport to work etc. They don't need to be cut and they don't bruise easily so very convenient.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge about fruits and detox - very helpful.

Best wishes,
Jenny <3 <3 <3

Hi all,

I've noticed more bloating returning due to my cooked food intake :-[. It must be this as it had definitely gone when I ate only raw. Not only do I not like the look of this, more importantly the abdominal area feels tense and under pressure so that can't be a good thing. When I press on this area it is definitely tense, not floppy or saggy as an overweight tummy might feel or look. I feel more determined now to continue on raw...

Last night I had 2 more glasses 8) OJ and ended up having some lentil dahl that my eldest son cooked. I wasn't going to but then had 2 small bowls. It was probably a shock for my system to have spices and this morning I awoke and felt quite anxious which I put down to this food. I was glad I still got up early for my walk and carried on. The bloating had been there somewhat over weekend and was there today even more so.This afternoon a friend said that lentils are hard to digest.

I realise part of my behaviour to eating this food is people pleasing. Eg "my son has just cooked this so I should show appreciation". Another insight into my behaviour is based on thinking the following, "I might be missing out if I don't have some". And of course I'm still forming this new habit which mostly takes time. Only a rare person changes their diet this dramatically overnight from what I've been reading. Anyhow the sore tummy could be a blessing in disguise if it helps me be more determined.

Today I had 5 glasses OJ, sorry I'm not very good at keeping count and weighing things. Lunch about 3 Pears and 4 Apples, I think. After work I cut up remaining Durian. First 2 sections went down well and then I opened 3rd, & last section and it was definitely the biggest :o and larger than other 2 sections put together! Anyway I got through it and haven't felt hungry since and it's now 8.30pm which is pretty amazing for me. Usually I seem to be having about 4 meals per day.

Rosie <3 <3, my cat, is still purring at night when he gets on my lap. He's got a new behaviour during day time of sitting behind lounge chair which he hardly ever used to do unless afraid & hiding. We talk to him and pat him whilst he's there but this seems to be a way of approaching death it appears. He loves boxes more than ever, which he used to like more in a playful way, I think he feels secure in them now. I'll post photo soon of him sitting in with the mangoes, lol.

About my previous fruit photos, when I showed my 21yo quickly on my camera, he remarked about oranges and mangoes being same photo. I told him, "no it's not same photo but you're right in that colours are same". What do you think? It's interesting that these type of oranges have a lot of green on them even though they are ripe and full of juice. The flavour is more tart than other juicing oranges I've got from shop but I prefer them this way. My brother does too and it seems to be because we had similar orange tree growing up. He's bought the tart oranges at market and they sell them cheaply as "marmalade" oranges which we both agree would be a waste! :dead: I don't know name of orange type, maybe someone else does.

Boys at their dad's tonight so no family stories to tell...

Planning to go to someone else's garden blitz this Sat, the plan is lots of  smitten.gif fruit trees (planting), mandala garden construction and chook house construction. I'm excited to learn more!!!

Take care,
Jenny <3 <3 <3

Hi Jenny,
I don't know much about oranges, maybe Anne can help, but mine are always slightly green when ripe too.  They look similar to the ones you have pictured, but some of my varieties are very sweet indeed.  I've read that certain tropical climates produce greener oranges.  It has something to do with the night time temperatures I think.  Also, I've read that supermarket oranges are sometimes injected with dye to get that super orange uniform color.

Best Wishes,
Sunmaiden

Beautiful pics, Jenny. Those mangoes look so yummy - we don't see any of those around here so early in the spring - I don't expect to taste any before December...

Yes, I think Anne has given you a pretty good outline of detoxing fruits - citrus and pineapples can definitely provoke quite violent reactions - but I believe firmly that acne is just detox. Something to be gone through to get to the other side - but just remember always, the more toxins you put in, they'll all be added to the lump of what has to come out... we have to pay for our "sins" it seems!
