So Glad To Find This Forum--My Intro
« on: April 02, 2012, 01:29:47 pm »

I was so happy to stumble on this place!  I've been feeling the (Essene) fruitarian calling for some time now.  I've visisted so many raw food forums and am always stumbling around looking for anything fruitarian-focused.

I turned 50 on March 23 and my goal for a long time was, on that date, to stop all my nonesense excuses for not being 100% and just go forth.  It's been easy, like I've had myself already talked into it/convinced for such a long time now.  I'm also on day seven of a ten-day juice fast. I wasn't expecting to do this, but my son (17) wanted to do it w/ me starting on my birthday and  then decided he wasn't ready, so I'm doing it on my own.  Again, surprisingly easy.

I also have an enlarged heart, so my blood pressure is always really, really high.  I keep a little blog/diary (http://mybigrawheart.blogspot.com/) if you want to look at it.  I was told in 2002 I'd be dead in two years if I didn't get the bp down (the big heart wasn't discovered until a coupla years ago thru an ultrasound).  I had some really bad habits back in early 2000...didn't discover raw until around 2006-07 and haven't been able to get it right (until now).  Any input on this issue'd be great.

Anyway, I'm doing fruit juice and veg juice (six quarts juice/day) and rejuvelac in the morning.  When I come off I think it'll be easy to stick w/ the fruit, although I'm sure I'll have some gourmet raw treats on the weekends when the kids are clamoring for almond milk (I hate waste...my son and I like the pulp for nut cheese!) and cacao truffles.  I think being fruity all week w/ some gourmet raw on the weekends is alot better than eating raw all week, then doing cooked/processed "treats" on the weekends.

By the way, I love durians more than anything I've ever tried.  I feel silly calling myself "Durianlove" being as I've never tried a fresh one, sadly only frozen living here in the pacific northwest...but what I've eaten I am just so enormously in love with.  Also, as I mentioned I feel called to Essene Fruitarianism (Essene Gospel of Peace book 1...you can download a copy from my diary) so I do eat honey and raw dairy.

That's my lenghy introduction!  Hope to meet some likeminded peeps!

Hi durianlove.

Nice to read about your journey!  I loved reading the essene gospel also, and similarly have had the best success including a wider range of foods in my diet.  I've swayed in and out of all raw, several times now and find I feel the best when I'm closest to hundred percent, but also, I like keeping flexible enough to enjoy a good variety of what the world has to offer!

take care,

Thanks Roberta!

Hey Sunmaiden!  Ya, I hear that!  Time for me to be done w/ the worldy stuff tho!

Day ten fast.  Had some nasty detox day eight, so guess that means there's lots more "housecleaning" to do.  Going for 30.

Welcome durianlove,

Good luck with your fast!

It's an interesting idea to do the raw during week and then some mixed (gourmet) raw on weekends. Let us know how it goes.

Take care,
Jenny
